SENATE SUSPENDS SITTING TO ANOTHER LEGISLATIVE DATE
The plenary session of the Senate on Thursday, February 15, 2018 was brief due to electrical fault that hit not only the Senate Chamber but some parts of the White House basement of the National Assembly building. The Hallowed Chamber was engulfed with smoke that stemmed from burning electrical appliances which abruptly hindered smooth legislative process.

Consequently, only the Votes and Proceedings of Wednesday February 14, 2018 sitting were approved by the Chamber. Afterwards, Sen. Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir moved a motion for the Chamber to suspend all items on the day’s Order Paper to another legislative date which ultimately scaled through via a voice vote.

Accordingly, Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan moved a Motion for the adjournment of the session to allow the Management of the National Assembly rectify the electrical problem that affected some parts of the Complex. It was unanimously approved through a voice vote and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who presided over the session adjourned the session to Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
