SB. 435 This Bill may be cited as the Legal Practitioners Act Cap. C11 LFN 2004 (Amendment) Bill, 2018;, EXPLANATORY NOTE;, This Bill seeks to amend the Legal Practitioners Act Cap C11 LFN 2004, amongst other things to: (a) make it a professional misconduct for any lawyer who fails to pay professional fees to continue to act as a legal practitioner; (b) give statutory backing to the establishment of an Institute for Continuing Legal Education by the Nigerian Bar Association; (c) institute a mandatory continuing legal education programme for the legal profession and permit the Nigerian Bar Association to issue and renew practicing licence for the Bar; (d) give legal backing to the use of stamp and seal by legal practitioners; (e) give powers to the Body of Benchers to create many Disciplinary Committees for lawyers.
