Senate Confirms Joe Ohiani As ICRC
Director-General
The Senate on Wednesday, July 20,
2022 confirmed the nomination of Joe Aniku Michael Ohiani as Director-General
of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
The nominee’s confirmation followed
the presentation of the screening report of the
Committee on Works, chaired by Sen.
Adamu Aliero (PDP - Kebbi Central) for consideration.
Sen. Aliero stated that Ohiani
responded satisfactorily to questions on the mandate of the ICRC, stressing
that the nominee would apply the vast knowledge and experience gathered over
time to enhance the workings of the Commission.
The Committee recommended that,
“after careful and diligent assessment of the nominee’s extensive resume,
performance during the screening exercise, knowledge, experience and character,
the Committee consider him suitable for confirmation as the Director-General of
the ICRC”.
The Recommendations of the Committee
were approved, afterwards, the nomination of Ohiani was ultimately confirmed by
the Upper Legislative Chamber.
