Zamfara Attack: Reps sue for Coordinated Security Response to Arrest Culprits
The House of Representatives at its plenary session on Thursday, February 22, 2018 passed a resolution urging the Federal Government to initiate a coordinated and pragmatic security intervention that would involve the collaborative efforts of both land and air military operations; and the services of other security services in order to bring the perpetrators of the massacre which took place in Zamfara State to book.

The resolution came following a motion of matters of urgent public importance moved by Hon. Abubakar Moriki over the recurring killings of innocent citizens by unknown armed men in the State.
The lawmaker informed the House that Zamfara State has before this latest attacked being confronted with various security problems ranging from kidnapping, cattle rustling, community attacks and general banditry activities, premeditatedly carried out in local communities including Birane and Mashema districts of Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government. He further stated that previous killings had been brought before the House and many resolutions to address the situations were adopted and implemented by both the State Government and Federal Government, but said the way and manner the implementation was handled has further endangered the indigenes of the State by leaving them at the mercy of the attackers.

Hon. Moriki was concerned that the security challenge has negatively impacted on the economic wellbeing of the people of the State as businesses have collapsed and farms abandoned due to fear.
In adopting the motion, the House also resolved to send a delegation to visit and condole the people and Government of Zamfara State, as well as urged the National Emergency Management Agency to send relieve items to those affected by the attacks.
